Alila Villas Uluwatu

Alila Villas Uluwatu is a luxurious eco-resort in a stunning setting, poised above the white sandy beaches of the rugged south coast of Bali. With a unique panoramic view over a huge azure sky, melting into the Indian Ocean, Alila Villas has been built close to one of Bali’s most sacred landmarks, the Temple of Uluwatu, dedicated to the guardian spirits of the sea.
Boasting international awards, the project was designed by WOHA, one of the most famous architecture practices in all of Asia. The practice worked to a brief focused on the creation of a space that translates the maximum expression of contemporary design. Composed of semitransparent boxes, places on top of each other, the aim of the architecture programme was to ensure indoors flows outdoors, mutually merging, in extension of each other. The eco-resort name is entirely deserved, given that the entire project features the use of local recycled materials and even the rainwater is naturally collected, stored and redirected to the swimming pools and to irrigate the gardens.
