A HOUSE FULL OF MEMORIES
Living in Mumbai, India, was the starting point for the construction of a completely different house. In this city, it’s impossible to ignore the fragility of buildings and there are many lessons about talent and adaptability that need to be learned. The Collage House is an S+PS Architects project that understands the idea of recycling and collage in several ways, from the physical one (materials, energy, etc.) to the intangible one (history, space, and memories). During the project, the architects mixed old and new things through many elements in order to achieve a balance between traditional and contemporary. Through the use of old doors and windows of demolished houses in the city, the house façade lets us imagine what we can find inside. There, we can also find many recycled materials as colonial furniture, old textiles, and waste fabric, that transport us to another era.
The Collage House is located in Mumbai and it’s a wonderful family home, where all generations have a place to stay.
