Nevern Square Apartment

A CONTEMPORARY 19th CENTURY HOUSE

 

Located on the ground floor of a late 19th century Edwardian building, in London, the Nevern Square Apartment has been conceived to transform 69 square metres, and just five windows, into a comfortable dwelling, fully equipped and designed to satisfy the needs of a young family.
Nevern Square is located in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, in London, and characterised by a series of residential buildings, which together form a square, at the centre of which is a leafy garden. These buildings were designed in 1880 by Walter Graves, in a style that had marked the 1870s, through the work of architects such as J.J. Stevenson and Richard Norman Shaw. Originally, these houses worked as private residences developing over several floors. After the 1960s they were turned into self-contained flats (one apartment per floor), to respond to rising housing demand.
