Axel Hotel Madrid

An ode to freedom.

In the middle of the Barrio de Las Letras, home of Cervantes, we find the new Hotel Axel Madrid. Boasting the privileged location of a 19th century mansion, El Equipo Creativo studio has created a space for all types of public. To achieve a relaxed and fun atmosphere, the strategy went through the use of colour, a key element present in all Axel spaces. It acquires a different character and materiality in each compartment. The public spaces are bright and contain cinematic and musical references of The Madrid Scene. The former noble rooms, now halls and suites, still retain the gold, the ceilings with decorative elements and the walls with intense colours and baroque influence. Colour also makes the restaurants Las Chicas, Los Chicos and Los Maniquís and Bala Perdida Club. The first is laid-back and has great graphics full of colour. The second mixes secrecy with cocktails and music. As a whole, Axel is a free and disruptive space, a pro LGBT community hotel – and hetero friendly – where fun is a flag.
