Craveiral Farmhouse

A home in the countryside.

In January, a month known for its cold and grey days, we travelled more than 500km, riding through almost the entire Portuguese coast, to reach one of our elected regions. A place where we are always happy, where there is always sun and warm days, where there are smiles and comfort food. Where the bread is unforgettable, the cheese is wonderful and the same goes for the wine. A place that is home away from home. We are telling you about Alentejo’s coast. There, we got to know a project that emerges from a love story. Love and resilience.

Right then, Craveiral Farmhouse was born. Or, at least, the idea of it.

Pedro Franca Pinto, from Lisbon, lawyer, always dreamt about a life in the countryside. It was spring when Pedro met this place – an undervalued land, in São Teotónio, a few minutes from Zambujeira do Mar, which in the past must have been a field of carnations that has given it its name (Craveiral origins from ‘cravo’ – carnation in English). Right then, Craveiral Farmhouse was born. Or, at least, the idea of it.
