FOGO

With soul and heart.

In FOGO (fire), the concept is rather simple and, at the same time, very complex. There, Alexandre Silva, the chef behind LOCO, wanted to surround those who enter into a unique atmosphere, where fire is the main ingredient. The space, which project was designed by João Tiago Aguiar, is reborn from the flames and each detail counts – from the lamps, made with marble from Estremoz, which resemble glowing embers, to the plants which make us think a forest born from the ashes, to the wood in the shelves. It is a place with 60 seats, where everything is cooked with fire.

This restaurant, in Avenida Elias Garcia, Lisbon, has a singular menu, which changes almost every day, working with products from small producers. Therefore, the experience one has in FOGO is always a little different, but always with assured excellence. The day we visited FOGO we could taste the Minhota Beef Tartare with Smoked Egg and the Cauli flower and Brill Roe Emulsion, two starters that left the stakes even higher. The Grilled Skate with Garlic Sauce and Potatoes melted in the mouth and the Steak of Minhota Striploin with Bean Stwe and Salad were proof of mastery of those whom, there, work with the fire.We finished with Carob Pão de Ló and Rosemary Leite Crème, the perfect ending.
