THE NEW NY PIECE OF ART
520 West 28th. This is the name and address of the first completed project by the British office Zaha Hadid Architects in New York. The facade of the building, with attractive details, holds all the attention and leaves no room for doubt - there is the unmistakable signature of Hadid. In an imposing structure with sharp curved lines, made of steel and glass – which carries some of the industrial heritage of that place – the building houses 39 luxury apartments spread over the 11 floors that are outlined by sinuous metal strings. Located in the historic Chelsea neighbourhood, in the heart of Manhattan, 520 West 28th is perfectly integrated into New York City`s dynamic, accompanied by an impactful district. The new building was born right next to the High Line Park – the famous suspended garden that has already become one of the city`s main tourist attractions. The entrance, in L, takes us to a majestic lobby, with a wall of 10 meters of height, carved in stone, that is a true work of art. Although we are in New York, there, the privileged view of the garden and the light shades convey tranquillity. In addition to the main lobby, the architects designed a set of common areas that make the experience of living at 520 West 28th very special.
