THE REGION’S FLAVOURS

 

Alentejo is very special. Maybe that is why we always have so much to say about this place. It is a place of fulfilment and peacefulness, a holiday place which is also a home, where the smell is unquestionable, it is comfort and well-being. It is the place where we always want to come back. And it`s amazing how it always surprises us, as we discover new secrets with each new visit, as there is always something different to tell and write about. It is hard to say what we love the most about Alentejo, however we succeeded in choosing two things that make this region literally one of the best in the world: the food and the people. The wine, bread, cheese, sausages, meat and fish. And the people that sit us at the table, who open their doors to us and welcome us as if we were family. Worthy people, good souls. This time it was these two things – the food and the people – that made us come back to Alentejo. We headed to Estremoz to Alentejo Food & Soul – the new Portuguese gastronomy and wine festival, which could not have had a more appropriate name. A street festival for everyone, which took place at the Centro de Ciência Viva in the Convento das Maltezas, and welcomed more than two dozen national and international chefs.
