Where peacefulness inhabits
We spend a lifetime looking for perfect places, perfect people, perfect moments, perfect stories. Some say that perfection does not exist. That pure happiness is a utopia. At the end of July 2018, we discovered a place, a story and two people that made us believe that perfection and happiness are possible at some point in our lives. Frank and Veronique exchanged grey and agitated Belgium for the sun and peacefulness of the Algarve ‘monte’ (‘monte’ is an old Portuguese word meaning farmhouse). They bought a house that was over 200 years old and made it the best place to live. And be happy. We arrived at Farmhouse of the Palms – at the top of Cerro do Botelho, very close to São Brás de Alportel – already the sun was getting lost in the horizon. The late afternoon light made the place all the more special. Frank welcomed us with the smile and affection with which old friends are greeted. And that greeting made us immediately feel like we were at home. We left the suitcases in the car and went to get to know the place. Guided by Frank`s words, we fell in love with every corner. Frank and Veronique have known Portugal for nine years. They arrived in Évora in May by car and fell deeply in love with the beauty of the region. To this day, they have never traveled to another country during holidays. The wish to have a place where they could lead a peaceful life and welcome guests brought them to Algarve.
