Every moment to celebrate and, above all, to award creativity is essential as a catalyst force to build new projects. They are the best examples, the ignition for sharing, individual work validation, or that of big teams, and are, also, the example for new creations, proposals that make our days better, the way we relate with each other and with spaces. In March we had the chance to watch closely the iF DESIGN AWARDS 2018 ceremony, in Munich, Germany. With the organization’s invitation, ROOF Magazine was part of an international press committee of 22 journalists that inhaled design during four days. Strategic initiative to value design, the iF prize has been awarded for 65 years to creations of several areas. In 2018, the 75 best products were distinguished out of 6.402 applications, from 54 countries, in the areas of Product Design, Communication Design, Packaging Design, Service Design/UX, Architecture, Interiors Architecture and Professional Concept. The event took place in day 9, carefully framed in one of the city’s most vibrant weeks – Munich Creative Business Week, whose theme was “Design Transforms”. With the very much recent 25hours Hotel – The Royal Bavarian, which occupies a former Post Office building, as a starting point, and our headquarters for four days, the program allowed us to feel the city’s pulse and visit some of Munich’s most prolific studios and companies.
