"WHAT INTERESTS ME IS WHAT I CANNOT DO."
For Manuel Aires Mateus, December was reached with the recognition of the Pessoa Prize 2017. An essential figure of Portuguese architecture, Aires Mateus owns, with his brother Francisco, a studio that looks at each program with an implicit enthusiasm, a unique opportunity to find out the incitements they give shape to. In their new, long-desired, workspace in Lisbon, along with their clients` works, they carry out specialized in-house courses with teachers, artists, art critics or philosophers, since it is important to create a common ground in the team.
