IN MEMORY OF A CITY
The look turns in the direction of the pen´s tip. Firm, unshakable, like someone commanding a concealed vibration that grows into an erected drawing. Marta is like this in the act of creating. Sensitive but intricate, gentle but passionate, an illustrator, who is also an architect, Marta gives shape to the project “Cities and Memory – Architecture and the City”, a series of drawings that illustrate the city´s landscape. Just as it is.
If your work, your drawings, had a vocal utterance, what would they say about you?
I can say that this is one of the most beautiful and difficult questions someone has ever asked me... I think they would say I am very perceptive, very attentive to details – be they of a minor or larger scale, be it objects, cities or people – I attract these images and transport them to my drawings, to my creative imagination. They would also say that I am sensitive, delicate and complex. The question is very interesting, as my drawings reflect a lot of my personality, there is a very strong presence in the drawings that I do: it is as if they are an extension of my mind, my hand. I dedicate most of my time to this task, so there is a great deal of love, commitment and dedication in each element, in every detail.
