Michelin Guide 2019Flavour | 22 Nov 2018
The Michelin Guide 2019’s ceremony, for the first time held in Portugal – at pavilhão Carlos Lopes, in Lisbon – was highlighted by the distinction of three new restaurants with a Michelin star. A Cozinha, por António Loureiro, in Guimarães, the G Pousada – run by the Gonçalves brothers, in Bragança, and Midori, commanded by chef Pedro Almeida, in Sintra.
The night was especially meaningful to Henrique Sá Pessoa, who saw his ALMA, in Lisbon, standing out with a second ‘macaron’ (it his open since 2015) – it is now even with José Avillez’s Belcanto, which keeps its two stars. Moreover, none of the Portuguese restaurants distinguished with this reward saw it being taken away. Highlight to LOCO’s Michelin star, run by chef Alexandre Silva, which was conquered three years ago, and Fortaleza do Guincho’s, which is now handed by Miguel Rocha Vieira to Gil Fernandes.
