ADVENTURES THAT INSPIRE

Travel to enlighten. Travel to better understand the world. Travel to test personal boundaries and to bring about internal metamorphosis. Travel not to forget. Travel to get to know and to get to know yourself better. These are different journeys where luxury matters very little or has another importance. In these trips, luxury lies in simplicity, inner wealth, and knowledge. Forget the 5-star hotels and the most famous monuments’ photographs. Unusual places are treasured, relations with local people and breathtaking landscapes. Adventure tourism has gained a new momentum and is now sought after by numerous people. Nomad is a Portuguese agency created in 2007 that organizes adventure trips “with a broader approach”, says Tiago Costa, the company’s co-founder. When Tiago and Pedro Gonçalves started Nomad, they understood that there was room in Portugal for a type of holiday business, different from the traditional one, which could be noted by their own personal experience. When they began, their biggest challenge was that they started off with their own programs, where they controlled every service, drew up plans themselves, without relying on local operators. And so they remain to this day – “it was and continues to be a great challenge”, as Tiago emphasizes. They started the agency with trips to the entire world, but the first two destinations were simultaneously to Nepal and Patagonia. Nowadays their proposals include places like Petra, Madagascar, Picos of Europe, Atlântida Islands, Indonesia or Mongolia. But Nomad travelling is much more than a holiday moment. Instead, they are thought out in such detail, so they result in personal experiences beyond life enriching. Each trip takes about two years to be planned.
