Sneha DiviasMagazine Interiors Interviews | 15 Sep 2017
It is not originally a Portuguese name, but Sneha Divias is, in fact, Portuguese. It was in Dubai that the interior architect found the perfect place for developing her work, after finishing her education in Porto, Istanbul and New York and having passed through important offices such as Siza Vieira and Nini Andrade Silva. Entirely absorbed by the frenetic speed of Dubai life, Sneha Divias created a sophisticated and stylish brand with a clear devotion for luxury in a cosmopolitan setting. 2017 is by now an extraordinary year. After setting up the studio in January, Sneha saw her first project, the Burj Daman apartment, nominated for the Index Design Awards in the category of Best Residential Design 2017, and winner of the International Property Award for Best Residential Project in the Middle East.
- What special characteristics does Dubai have for the development of your profession?
Dubai is known worldwide for its architecture and daring interiors, associated to luxury, and is constantly changing and expanding. Geographically it is culturally accessible as a travel hub and a natural centre for the fast development of the architecture and design industry. There is, at the moment, a great focus on quality, originality and authenticity with a determination to overwhelm in each work and urban plan. It`s great to be in a milieu where uplift and “out of the box” ideas are valued by building support structures for this industry. What makes the region even more interesting is the fact that there is a mixture of cultures and associated nationalities.
