THE EAST IN LISBON
The name says it all. To get in Avenida de Roma’s number 100, in Lisbon, is like to get in a teleportation machine which, in the blink of an eye, takes us to Asia.
The hot eastern wind (Soão) is the one that blows from East, and Soão – Taberna Asiática, by SEAME Group, brings us the flavours and aromas of Japan, India, China, Vietnam, Thailand and South Korea, in a gastronomic adventure headed by chef Luís Cardoso.
And it is not just the cuisine that takes us to the East. The entire interiors design was thought till the smallest detail so that, just upon arrival – where we are greeted by the Japanese god of the wind Fujin –, were are in Asia, while in Lisbon. With architecture by GRCA atelier, wood and warm colours are among the elements that stand out the most in this space. Paper lanterns and sakês barrels are other details that ingrain the Eastern cultural spirit in Soão.
If the ground floor’s highlight is gastronomy, the floor below is where one can find the bar and four booths for six to eight people, where red and gold paint an image of decadent luxury.
