AN OFFICE FROM THE LAST CENTURY
In a historic building located in a corner, by the riverside area of the city of Lisbon, were built the new offices of Vieira de Almeida & Associados – VdA. The building, dating back to the first half of the last century, has positively undergone several interventions, however has preserved the industrial characteristic stylishness of the time. And that style was not lost. The architects of OPENBOOK Architecture – who developed this project in partnership with PMC Arquitetos – wished to maintain the building’s central body, while preserving its elegant metallic structure. The entire perimeter façades were also preserved and painted white. Inside, we find three floors now occupied by the law firm. In addition to the metallic structure, the brick remained exposed – also recovered from the original structural details – reminds us of the industrial and modernistic character, transporting us to another era. Back to the time when that old warehouse was constructed. However, we are unquestionably in a building where our time exists.
