Lexus Sport Yatch

Tech | 17 Jan 2017

Lexus is recognised for its cars and now wants to conquer waves. With that in mind, they developed a project for a sports yatch, Lexus Sport Yatch. With a capacity between six and eight people, the premium performance yatch “previews” how Lexus can reach “new areas such as leisure and lifestyle”.
The presented prototype has two “high performance” V8 Lexus engines, and each piece is composed by a “solid epoxy resin reinforced with two layers of polyurethane and carbon fiber”, as the brand, part of Toyota Motor Corporation, explains. These materials allow the Lexus yatch to weigh 1 000 kg less than a similar model that uses plastic reinforced with glass fiber. The underwater hull is pressed to get greater equilibrium in high speed manouvers.
The rudder includes modern technology, such as the panel that has the GPS, digital graphics, surface radar or underwater sonar. Entertainment is present both in the rudder and the passangers cabin, that has a sofa, table and air conditioner. The Lexus Sport Yatch also has an integrated sound system.
Lexus International’s Executive Vice-President sees the “prototype development” as a possibility to “explore the widening of Lexus’ design language to nautical”.
